Maverick Collective is a philanthropic and advocacy initiative of the leading global health organization Population Services International (PSI). Their mission is to build a community of strategic philanthropists and informed advocates who use their true net worth - their intellectual and financial resources - to create change by investing in girls and women. Maverick Collective members invest a minimum of $1 million over three years to pilot an innovative health solution, working closely with PSI as the programmatic implementing partner. The initiative, created in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, with the vision and leadership of HRH The Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway and Melina Gates, has leveraged more than $60 million and improved the lives of millions of girls and women.

Our work

Maverick Collective asked us to develop and implement a strategic plan to expand the initiative to London. We began by facilitating an internal strategy session to determine goals and audiences and to build a case for support in London. We then conducted rigorous desk research and combined this with insights from our own experience as well as those from industry influencers in our network to map the landscape and identify the most promising routes to reach members and partners. We are now working alongside the Maverick Collective team to implement the plan we developed.

Results

Our work has culminated in a detailed catalogue of prospective members and partners and a tactical plan for engagement. We have activated stakeholders at dozens of leading organizations in the philanthropy and wealth management sphere and have forged a number of successful partnerships with high-profile institutions. Our approach to cultivating London as a hub for Maverick Collective has established a model that is being replicated by the initiative in other markets.
